In order to do this, I would have to partition the hard drive, which requires formatting the entire thing (correct?), which I don't want to do. I've read that you can use diskwarrior from an external hard drive, but that you have to actually install the system on the hard drive. ![]() So I use the serial number to get the online download of Diskwarrior 4.4, burn a new disk, still doesn't work. I restart with the disk in, hit option, select to startup from the disk which shows up fine, but then the macbook won't start up from it successfully. Disk utility was giving me some kind of problem it wouldn't fix, and fsck-fy in single user mode wouldn't fix it either. I've got a macbook from several years ago, 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, still running 10.5.8. Hello everyone! I'll try to keep this short, but I'll start with some background info:
